Summer Coding Academy (3-day academy) June 18 – 20, 2014 9:00 – 3:00 Registration Fee: $150 / $200 for non-ESU 6 districts DETAILS: Join award-winning Nebraska educator Dr. Paul Clark, staff from HUDL and the ESU 6 staff for 3-days of active, hands-on teacher training in coding and programming languages designed to engage students of all ages. Combine Scratch coding with tools such as MakeyMakey to create everything from human drums to a vegetable piano keyboard and with Picoboards to create game characters that respond to motion, light or sound. Targeted at Middle School computer apps teachers, but open to teachers who work with all ages of students, each participant will create at least 5 coding lessons or projects for their students. Each teacher will also receive a MakeyMakey unit, a Picoboard and sensors to take back to your classroom to use with students as part of the lessons they create.
Cost: $150 for 3 days (June 18, 19 & 20), including meals and listed supplies (MakeyMakey, Picobard and sensors). Participants should bring a laptop to the workshop each day.

NWEA Overview August 27, 2014 9:00 – 3:00 Registration Fee: $30 / $35 for non-ESU 6 districts DETAILS: This training is designed to help teachers read and utilize reports provided by NWEA for the MAP assessments. We will look at how MAP assessments work, RIT scores, and dig into frequently used reports including Normative Data, Class by RIT, DesCarte, and Teacher Report. This training is designed for teachers new to a district that will be using MAP as well teachers that need a refresher on MAP basics.
